Dr. Md. Jahangir Hossain is the Scientific Affairs Lead of the Feed the Future Insect-Resistant Eggplant Partnership Project. He was also attached with the previous phase of the eggplant projectsince May 2017.
Dr. Hossain obtained his graduation from the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in 1982 and started his career asascientist with theBangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI)in 1983. He pioneered plant tissue culture research in BARI. He was successfully accomplished Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Tissue Culture from the Department of Horticulture of BAU. He served the nation from BARI holding different positions during the service life from 1983 to 2017. Once he leads the plant tissue culture research in BARI. He ended his job with BARI as one of the Directors.
Dr. Hossain has extensive experience inplant tissue culture research and in vitro/ex vitro rapid multiplication techniques of potato, sweet potato, brinjal, capsicum, strawberry, banana, jerbera flower, etc. He has attendednumerous national and international on-the-job trainings. He has authored approximately80 research publicationsin national and international journalsand 250 scientific articles as book chapter, booklets, folders, bulletins, seminar, workshop, etc. He also supervised the research work of six MS students and two Ph.D. students.
Dr. Hossain is blessedwith a lovely wife and two boys and one girl.
